LUNA by Clara is a pop-up sustainable restaurant concept that has opened its doors in Bangkok, offering a peaceful escape amidst the bustling energy of the city. This exciting venture is the brainchild of the partnership between Christian Martena of the renowned Clara restaurant and Chef Simone Scarparo, resulting in a truly unique culinary experience, driven by local ingredients.

At LUNA, the focus lies in sustainability, with a commitment to only using local ingredients, sourced exclusively from Thailand. The aim is to showcase the exceptional quality, depth, and range of flavours that Thai produce has to offer. The menu transcends borders and defies categorization, embodying a limitless, modernist culinary style that draws inspiration from Chef Simone's background, travels, and global influences.

This immersive dining experience echoes LUNA's commitment to mindful creativity and sustainability, as well as Chef Simone's passion for bringing his life experiences and inspirations to every plate. By blending innovative techniques with local ingredients, LUNA by Clara presents a contemporary interpretation of fresh seasonal produce, culminating in unforgettable sensory moments.

LUNA by Clara offers a culinary style that defies categorization, blending modernist techniques with Chef Simone's personal story, background, travels, and inspiration. The concept revolves around a sustainable kitchen that uses 100% local ingredients sourced exclusively from Thailand. While it is not Thai cuisine, LUNA aims to highlight and elevate the importance of Thai produce in Chef Simone's unique style, resulting in a borderless culinary experience.

The cuisine at LUNA is driven by seafood and vegetables, staying true to the roots of the concept, which originated on the island of Koh Samui. The inspiration for each plate comes from Chef Simone's travels and close relationships with suppliers, ensuring a deep understanding and appreciation for the origins of every ingredient used. Each dish tells a story, raises awareness of the importance of sustainability and showcases and showcases the quality and flavours of the carefully selected ingredients.

Simone Scarparo, one half of the dynamic duo behind LUNA BY CLARA, has a culinary journey that spans across various countries, including Italy, France, Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Norway. This global influence is reflected in his cuisine, which incorporates flavours and techniques from his diverse experiences. Throughout his career, Simone has honed his skills at fine dining establishments and Michelin-starred restaurants such as Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Versailles, Pierre Gagnaire's restaurant in Courchevel, and the prestigious two Michelin-star establishment, La Voile in Ramatuelle.

In 2019, Simone's journey led him to Thailand, where he crossed paths with Christian Martena and joined the culinary team at Clara, contributing his expertise to this exceptional establishment. Thailand proved to be a transformative experience for him, expanding his culinary horizons and introducing him to new flavours, aromas, spices, and techniques. In 2021, he was appointed as the Head Chef at Natura Restaurant in Finland, which was awarded the Michelin Green Star in 2022. This opportunity allowed him to explore Scandinavian cuisine, travel to different restaurants, and refine his influences and inspirations.

In 2023, Simone's journey came full circle with the inception of the LUNA BY CLARA project in Thailand. Collaborating with Christian Martena, they developed a concept that blends sustainable values and culinary creativity with a serene atmosphere and an out-of-the-box dining experience. Chef Simone’s expertise is brought to life at LUNA BY CLARA, promising a memorable experience that takes diners on a flavourful journey of discovery.

Christian Martena, a prominent figure on Bangkok's vibrant F&B scene, is a true visionary in the restaurant industry. Christian's passion for the culinary arts was ignited at a young age, growing up in a family with a rich tradition in food and the restaurant business. His journey took him across the globe, where he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Paris. 12 years ago, he settled in Thailand and decided to embark on his own culinary venture. As the founder of Clara restaurant, he has established himself as a culinary force to be reckoned with.

Named after his beloved wife, Clara restaurant embodies Christian's modern vision, meticulous techniques, and a perfect harmony of flavours. It has become a sought-after destination for discerning diners seeking contemporary Italian fine dining in Bangkok. Christian’s dedication to excellence has garnered Clara numerous accolades, including being awarded the prestigious N*21 Best Italian Restaurant in the World 2023 by 50 TOP ITALY and recognized in the esteemed MICHELIN GUIDE Thailand 2023.

Christian's creative spirit and commitment to sustainability led him to collaborate with Chef Simone in conceiving LUNA BY CLARA. Recognizing the richness and versatility of Thai produce, they crafted a dining concept that celebrates and pushes the boundaries of creativity, sustainability, and unexpected flavours in an enchanting jungle-like atmosphere.
